Another Pied Wagtail!

Hi All,

How are you?
I have to tell you this, today whilst out on our ride with mummy we saw another Pied Wagtail, this was odd because this particular bird was alone. I wanted to run up but mummy called me back and told me to just watch. We stood back as long as the 'fidgety' Wizz would allow (mummys little horse will never stand still) all the time watching the little bird who in return was watching us. He appeared to be guarding a mole hill! It looked quit fresh so I can imagine that there were lots of tasty insects to eat which the Wagtail was not prepaed to share. So adamant that this was his/her mole hill that he/she chirped indignantly and stamped in a very cross manner. This is one of the funniest things I have seen a bird do, I wanted to sneak closer to see if the Wagtail would get really cross with us but mummy told me to behave myself and stay with the horse! Harumph!
We continued our ride up the tracks towards the parsnip field (all hiding under straw), later we passed the mole hill, sadly the the Wagtail had gone, I dare say along with all the insects that were there too, I wonder if the extra weight of the worms etc made it difficult for him/her to take off, shame I missed that. Need to find out if this was indeed male or female, will tell you later when I know!

xx
