First letter home.

Dear mum, dad, Hannah & Bubsie.

Just thought you might like to know that I am very well & happy! My ‘new’ mummy came to collect me from Market Drayton, the first thing she did was picked me up and gave me a big cuddle, she said I still smelt like a puppy. I knew she liked me, she kept cuddling me and telling me that I am beautiful.

I traveled home in the cage you sent with me in the back of the car. On the way home, 'new' mummy talked to me till we were off the main road which is where she stopped, took me out of the cage & let me sit on her knee for the last bit of the journey home. She kept telling me how cute I am and that she is very pleased to have such a pretty little dog.

My new home is very nice, the garden is massive and there is an orchard. When we arrived I was greeted by Hurry-up, he is quite a posh dog with a grey beard. He told me he is known as ‘Lord Gump’ and was once a very fine gun dog. He showed me very slowly round the garden and kept stopping to pee. he said it was important that he pee’d where I had pee’d, it was a territory thing, girls don’t do it. When I grow up, I will understand.

‘New’ mummy made up a lovely basket for me, it’s like a den next to the Rayburn, she put all my toys in it for me and gave me a new ball. I also have a very smart basket in her office with a red fur blanket, next to her chair. Its is raised up on a stool so she can see me while she’s working. It is so ‘snuggly’ I fall asleep in it straight away.

Later in the evening ‘new’ mummy’s fiancé came home, he had taken their other dog to work for the day, she is called Mouse & is a Pointer X Lab. They made us both wear muzzles for our first meeting, just incase we didn't get on. I hated wearing it! Fortunately they weren’t on for long, maybe two minutes which was too long as far I am concerned, it made Mouse look like a greyhound! Mouse & I are already mates and have the same sense of humour, we played chase round the house, ‘new’ mummy didn’t seem bothered, even when we skidded the rug’s into a heap and crashed into the cupboards!

Here is one of 'New' mummy's sketches of Mouse. She is black with grey'ish 'ticking' & has a very 'whiskery beak!'

Later on in the evening, ‘new’ mummy took me down the yard with Mouse. She introduced me to the horses but shut me in the feed room while she changed their clothes for bed, I did complain but she told me I couldn’t go loose until the morning as it was dark and I don’t know my way around. Mouse stayed with me and showed me how to steal carrots from the feed buckets,  she said the horses wouldn’t notice.

At bed time, we all went out for last ‘tinkles’ & had a biscuit before lights out. ‘New’ mummy put my cage near to Mouse & Hurry. I did cry a little bit but Mouse read me a story so I soon went to sleep. Hurry snores by the way and Mouse farts, ‘whiffles’ & twiches in her sleep! She’s only a few months older than me and told me that she is meant to be a working dog for tracking deer. Apparently she is very intelligent and works very well for her age. I am hoping to learn some cool stuff from her. She is quite well trained and walks to heel.

Today is my first full day, so far I have been down the yard to help muck out, ‘New’ mummy made me wear a fluorescent coat. She said it was for my own safety so I didn’t try to take it off. I did try to eat some horse poo though, I was told my breakfast would be more nutritious but I wasn’t scalded, she just laughed!

I had a fantastic run round the fields, Mouse showed me round and we played chase till we were covered in mud! After this I watched Mouse do her stuff, she showed me some of the cool commands she does, like sit to a whistle and lie down. I wasn’t in the mood to try this myself, maybe tomorrow.

After this we went in for breakfast, ‘New’ mummy dried me off with a towel and promised to take me to visit her elderly neighbour & Yorkshire terrier later.
I have just returned from our elderly lady visit, we had a lovely afternoon and I now have another friend called Herbie.

I am quite tired now, going to have a little sleep in my smart basket with the furry blanket. ‘New’ mummy keeps smiling at me, I know she is pleased with me.

Please don’t worry about me, I’m very safe and well cared for. I have everything I could wish for. My new ‘squeaky’ is now trashed and lies beside me to play with later. Night, Night.
Love
